AI can assist defined newsroom tasks, but it does not receive authorship, editorial authority or permission to publish.

Allowed assistance
AI may organise notes, suggest questions, identify possible duplicates, propose related reporting or surface sources for a human to inspect. Its output remains unverified until a person checks it against the underlying evidence.
Decisions AI cannot make
- approve a claim, source or image right;
- approve a headline, correction or publication;
- present itself as a human author or reviewer;
- create a factual documentary image or substitute for missing evidence;
- publish reader submissions or comments automatically.
Verification and disclosure
A named human remains accountable for claims, quotations, source descriptions, rights, safety and the final article. A public AI disclosure appears when material assistance is relevant to understanding the work.
